Davis, Brown, Koehn, Shors & Roberts, P.C. assists both individuals and businesses in navigating the labyrinth of government regulation related to U.S. immigration law. We assist foreign students changing status from F-1 to H-1B for temporary work authorization; international companies in temporary (L-1 or E-1) or permanent transfers of employees; investors seeking to develop or manage projects in the U.S.; and companies sponsoring employees in shortage occupations (particularly computer professionals, scientists and engineers) for permanent residence. We work with health care facilities to sponsor foreign physicians in underserved areas, and to sponsor RNS and other health care providers. We advise companies regarding I-9 and labor condition attestation record-keeping requirements, and train human resources staff in I-9 compliance. We also assist U.S. citizens who have married foreign nationals and those wanting to bring a fiancé(e) or other relative to the U.S., as well as permanent residents seeking U.S. citizenship or to sponsor relatives for immigration. In both the employment and family immigration areas, we act as advisors and liaisons to U.S. government agencies, including the Citizenship & Immigration Service, the Department of Labor, the Department of State (U.S. embassies and consulates abroad) and related state and federal agencies. We also assist in obtaining visas for work or travel in other countries, where appropriate, or arrange for such assistance in the foreign jurisdiction through the Lex Mundi network of law firms throughout the world, or through other appropriate firms.
