CONCENTRATION
Michele is an associate of the Davis Brown Law Firm. She joined the Litigation Division in August 2009. She maintains a general litigation practice, including Business Litigation, Health Law, Real Estate Litigation, Probate Litigation and Products Liability.
SUMMARY
Michele’s Health Law practice is focused on Medicare and Medicaid compliance. Recent changes in federal legislation have made this area a critical part of litigation. Michele monitors developments and advises how these changes affect business practices and litigation.
Michele’s Real Estate practice is primarily split between Landlord/Tenant and Foreclosure proceedings. Michele represents landlords of apartments and mobile home parks with a variety of lease disputes, evictions and abandonment matters. On the foreclosure side, Michele regularly represents mortgagees in contested foreclosure actions. Michele also assists with related matters, including loss mitigation, modifications and title issues.
Michele has also represented clients in a variety of trust disputes. Michele has represented trustees and beneficiaries in contested removal actions wherein administration of family trusts were challenged.
Since 2009, Michele has represented clients in both jury and non-jury cases and is licensed in both Iowa state and federal courts.
ACADEMICS
Michele graduated from Drake Law School with Highest Honors in 2009, where she was captain and member of the American Bar Association Moot Court team, staff member of the Drake Law Review and a student attorney for the Neal & Bea Smith Legal Clinic (civil division). She is also a member of the Drake Chapter of the Order of the Coif and the Honorary Order of the Barristers.
Michele graduated from Drake University, earning a B.A. in Political Science, Law, Politics, and Society with a minor in general business.
PERSONAL & COMMUNITY
Michele grew up in Des Moines and is a graduate of East High School. Outside of work, Michele volunteers for a variety of organizations and is a member of the Chrysalis Foundation Board of Directors. She actively supports and fundraises for the United Way. Michele also enjoys tennis, reading, music and training her West Highland Terrier.
