
CONCENTRATION
Sam is an associate of the Davis Brown Law Firm. He joined the litigation division in 2009 in the area of Litigation and Appeals.
ACADEMICS
Sam graduated from the University of Iowa College of Law with highest distinction in May 2008. He was elected to the Order of the Coif, awarded the Iowa State Bar Association Prize, and received the Willard L. Boyd Public Service Distinction with Highest Honors. In law school, Sam was a member of the Iowa Law Review, serving as a managing editor and publishing his note, Fashioning a Constitutional Voter-Identification Requirement, 93 Iowa L. Rev. 731 (2008). He also participated in the Van Oosterhout Memorial Moot Court Competition, in which he earned the Best Brief Award and was selected to argue before the Iowa Supreme Court.
Sam received his Bachelor of Arts in Politics in June 2002 from Washington and Lee University, where he graduated magna cum laude and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
OF NOTE
After graduating from law school, Sam clerked for Judge Steven M. Colloton on the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.
Prior to attending law school, Sam worked for several years for then-Majority Whip Roy Blunt in the United States House of Representatives.
PERSONAL
Sam grew up in Clear Lake, Iowa, and graduated from Clear Lake High School. He currently resides in Ankeny with his wife, Kristin, and their son, Andrew.
