Davis Brown attorney Sharon K. Malheiro is receiving an award on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at the Methodist Federation for Social Action's 2009 Awards Night. Malheiro was co-counsel in defending Judge Jeffrey Neary in the Alons v. Iowa District Court for Woodbury County civil union dissolution case, an expert witness in Varnum v. Brien marriage equality case, and was instrumental in encouraging Lambda Legal to successfully lead both cases, which resulted in victorious Iowa Supreme Court decisions. The MFSA takes action on issues of peace, poverty and people's rights within the church, the nation and the world.
